Tilt 2 Dreams Put on Hold Until Oct 18

Boy Genus gives and takes…and now he took away our dreams of Oct 6 and replaced it with a new one…an October 18th launch. He states “It looks like the target release date of the 6th will be missed due to a few bugs that still need to be ironed out and tested. The new target is apparently October 18th.” Wow, the word ‘target’ doesn’t sound very firm either. I guess we’ll just continue to do what we’ve been doing and wait…impatiently :)

AT&T Tilt 2 (Touch Pro 2) Coming October 6

tiltii-thumb So about 5 minutes ago Doug wrote “We are looking for another October release from AT&T on the Tilt II, which means this late in September, these ought to be caught in the wild more and more often.” Let’s call him Nostradamus. Boy Genius is now reporting that October 6 is in fact going to be the release date of the Tilt 2 from AT&T. Based on the fact that we’ve seen the leaked ROM we know it to be a 6.5 ROM. Plus it lines up with the WM 6.5 launch day so that should be a definite. So, ready to get in line? Is it worth the wait to get an official 6.5 ROM?

AT&T Tilt II Now Loaded In System

Untitled-1 I thought I would pass along a screen shot of the highly anticipated AT&T Tilt II which seems to now be loaded in the AT&T System. The AT&T Tilt II which is also known by many these last few months as the HTC Touch Pro II, has already been receiving lots of carrier love from T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon. While the other US Carrier Versions are getting good press and attention, the AT&T Tilt II version is expected to come with Windows Mobile 6.5 as we saw here:

Having been critical of the AT&T Keyboard in the past, the years have taken their toll on me and I have grown used to the AT&T Custom Keyboard and prefer it to the numbers across the top versions the other US Carriers and HTC use. I also really like that fact that AT&T went with the HTC Touch Pro II Chrome Bezel look. Having used the Touch Pro II for a short time, the Chrome look is nothing short of spectacular. I know there will be a ton of finger print magnet complaints, but the HTC Touch Pro II really has some WOW factor to it.

So there ya’ have it folks, just another trickle of excitement leaked from the AT&T Juggernaut about our highly desired AT&T Tilt II. We are looking for another October release from AT&T on the Tilt II, which means this late in September, these ought to be caught in the wild more and more often. So keep your eye’s open and your cell phone’s camera handy and send us some AT&T Tilt II goodness caught in the wild!

Dream Catcher…The Game

dreamcatcher Gamedboy of XDA announced the release through Touch Dimensions of a new free game called Dream Catcher Lite. The game play is simple – you need to draw a circle to surround stars of the same type or the same color (so you can go all red or all triangles for example…or all red triangles if you’re up for it). News stars continually appear to keep the game going. The goal is to get large combos to get the most points. It’s a simple game to play but like most games of this type it’s the challenge that keeps you addicted to it. It’s simple and fun.

You can follow the XDA thread here or visit their website to download the game here

Winterface 2.0 Sneak Preview

buy screen Vito Technology recently announced that their popular Winterface user interface was about to receive a major upgrade. We were fortunate to receive a pre-release copy of Winterface 2.0 and we’re going to share some screenshots with you. But let’s first tell you a little about Winterface 2. For various reasons, I was testing this on my 8525/Hermes. It’s clear that Winterface is light and efficient because my phone was flying with Winterface 2.0 running. Going from page to page within Winterface requires a swipe and it was amazingly responsive. In fact, I’m sure we’ve all tried to put our finger on the screen and see how far behind our finger the screen moves…well with Winterface 2 there’s no lag so even between screens everything moves in real time, which I can’t say about TF3D. It really makes the interface feel smooth and enjoyable. As I sit here and flick through 6 screens I’m still shocked how fast it goes. You should also know that Winterface 2 can be integrated into your current interface, so it can be a plugin on your standard Today screen or you can just make a shortcut to it to launch it. If you run it as a plugin then just tap it and it’s full screen with zero delay…not a flicker. It’s also very highly customizable and entirely finger friendly so no need to use the stylus at all.

But that’s enough talking, let’s get to some screenshots already so you can see it in action:

Newest WM 6.5 Build 23412

WM6.5-build23412 As the saying goes, you can’t keep up with the players without a program. And that’s the way it is with ongoing “leaks” (who is MS kidding?) of WM 6.5, now with build 23412 (as reported by wmpoweruser.com). Here’s what they have to say:

“Windows Mobile 6.5.1 is shaping up pretty nicely on the UI side with the new soft keys and status bar, but the built-in apps are still badly in need of updating. Its gratifying to see Microsoft realizes this, with the latest build of WM 6.5 23412 having a dramatically improved contacts application which appears much more user-friendly. While these changes are very nice and essential, it does place the released version of Windows Mobile 6.5 in a pretty poor light, as it is missing most of the dramatic changes seen recently.”

And an additional comment from pocketnow.com: “Another day, another new Windows Mobile 6.5 build. This time, in build 23412 (via XDA) we see that the contacts application is being revamped, which is good considering that this part of the operating system hasn’t changed much in nine years. As always, we expect that many design aspects of this app will continue to evolve and become more refined.”

It’ll be great when the leading chefs, including our very own Herg, get this ROM cooked for the Fuze.

Birthday and Anniversary Calendar Events Made Easier

image Annoyed by the fact that without an Exchange account your birthday and anniversary events in your contacts do not trigger calendar events on your phone? Well now it’s simple. From TheToid, the developer:

Here’s a little program I made which allows you to automatically create / update / delete appointments based on your anniversaries and birthdays set on your contacts, it uses its own group for the appointments "From Contact" so that it won’t interfere with any other appointments you have, also the latest version has a function to view all your birthdays / anniversaries on one screen and sort by various things

TheToid has already gone through a few versions and this appears to be a solid build. In fact, he’s taking requests for any other suggestions users may have. The XDA thread is here and the download is here
