Google Maps 2.3.1 With Street View For Blackberry’s Only? Sez Who?
I decided I wasn’t going to rant yet again about Google developing an application for Blackberry before Windows Mobile. (Click here) Google developed Version 2.2 for Blackberry first, then they come right back and release Version 2.3.1 for Blackberry again that has Street View Functionality!
So I figured I would play the waiting game. Sez Who! I forgot about XDA and those awesome members! Member KDKobes posted that he had indeed got Google Maps 2.3.1 to work on his Kaiser (AT&T Tilt & HTC TyTN II). KDKobes says:
I finally got Google Maps 2.3.1 on my Tilt with the Street View function. As of right now it is not available on Windows Mobile devices through Google just Blackberry and some Java devices, but I managed to find it with this function in Java form and it is working on my Tilt. The application can be found below in My Cabs, under “Cabs”, “Programs”. Here is the direct link……….. CLICK HERE!!!!!
**Not all cities have “street view” yet and it is not restricted to city size. You can use the “search” option and enter a city(city followed by state initials) once it shows location click on options, scroll down and if it says “Street View” then the option is available in that location otherwise it will not show the option.**You can also show “street view” by double tapping a location on the screen OR by pressing the middle button on the DPad of your device.
**Currently this version doesn’t support My Location feature or GPS for this phone since it wasn’t made for it.**
So if you want to have a tailgating party waiting for Google to release version 2.3.1. to us Windows Mobile Owners, head on over to KDKobes link here: CLICK HERE!!!!! and download it and have a look!
Otherwise, head on over to Google’s Mobile Blog HERE to learn more about Google Maps Version 2.3.1. with Street View Functionality.
